The Town Clerk has numerous election responsibilities including registering residents to vote, distributing absentee ballot applications, providing sample ballots prior to election day, issuing absentee ballots, and receiving and securing completed early voting and absentee ballots through election day. New in 2026, no-excuse absentee balloting allows any Connecticut registered voter to request, receive, and vote with an absentee ballot.
Additionally, all completed absentee ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office by 8 p.m. on election night. Ballots can be returned either by US mail, in person in the Town Clerk’s office by the elector or an immediate family member, or by deposit into the secure ballot box located in the grassy area outside Town Hall’s mail entrance. DO NOT deposit completed absentee ballots in the drop box next to Town Hall’s main door.
Alternatively, any elector may cast their vote during the Early Voting period; no reason is required.
