The Renter’s Rebate Program begins April 1. The Rebate is for income-qualified residents over 65 or disabled. It is based on rent, utility charges and maximum gross income. A checklist of necessary documents can be obtained at the Killingworth Town Hall or by contacting the Municipal Agent, Mercedes Ricciuti, at 860 663 1765 x217.

Both the Democratic and Republican Parties will hold Presidential Preference Primaries on April 2, 2024.

The Killingworth Registrars of Voters will be holding an informational session about Early Voting on Saturday, March 9, at the Killingworth Library from 10 am to 12 noon. New this year, Early Voting will take place for the first time prior to the Presidential Preference Primary which is scheduled for April 2.

What is Early Voting? How is it different from Absentee Voting? When is it being held and where? What will it mean to me? Come to the session on Saturday, March 9 from 10 am – 12 noon at the Killingworth Library to get answers to your questions! The registrars will discuss all of the above as well as the upcoming calendar for Early Voting for the rest of the year.

Once again, The Estuary is providing tax preparation assistance on Tuesdays at the Killingworth Congregational Church.  There are no income or age restrictions, but appointments are required.  Please contact the Estuary at 860-579-3192 with any questions or to schedule an appointment.

There are no regulation changes for freshwater fishing from 2023 to 2024.

However, starting this year the Freshwater and Saltwater Regulations will no longer be combined in one booklet. Marine regulations are set through a process involving many stakeholders and are not usually completed until late February. As many of you are hitting the inland waters well before March, the Fisheries Division has opted to split the two and publish the inland regulations at the start of the calendar year. Hard copies will be distributed to many town clerks and bait and tackle shops in the coming weeks.

Marine regulations will be printed in a brochure and updated on the DEEP webpage as soon as they are finalized (anticipating late March 2024).

If you receive a letter indicating you are being sent a new Medicare Card and you actually receive a new card, it is a precautionary measure taken by the Center for Medicare & Medical Services (CMS) because of a data breach – IT IS NOT A SCAM.

When in doubt, Medicare Recipients should call MEDICARE or engage the Senior Medicare Patrol if they have questions or concerns.

At the November 7 election, Killingworth’s electors approved a new Killingworth Charter which took effect on December 8, 2023.  This newly approved charter is available at the link below:

As of December, 2023, a new electric discount is available to Eversource residential electric customers with existing financial hardship status on their electric accounts. The discount is based on gross annual income or the receipt of public assistance such as fuel assistance, SNAP or disability SSI. To learn more, log into Eversource.com or click on Social Services under the Town Services heading at the top of this page. Paper applications are also available at the Town Hall.
